Anna Scott: I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.
Oh that classic, classic movie will never get old. Notting Hill is just about a 20 minute walk from where I'm living, so of course I had to go explore it one Saturday morning. I even found the little blue door that led to Will's apartment (yes it's still blue). The entire neighborhood is adorable and so colorful.
Today was arrivals day, but I didn't have to come into the office until about 11am, so I had all morning to explore. Saturday is a great day to come to Notting Hill because it's the massive Portabello Road Market (featured in one of my favorite Disney movies, Bed Knobs and Broomsticks). It is about a mile and half of stalls filled with antiques, fruits, veggies and souvenirs. It has just about everything you could need (or not even know you need) like gas masks, magnifying glasses and teacups. I grabbed a walking breakfast and perused all of the stalls. I loved just watching the people chatting in the morning to each other and getting their stalls set up. You can tell that they have most likely known their stall neighboors for a long time.
It was a bit of a grey morning, but the perfect time to go meandering around a new area. I could have stayed a looked for hours, but I'm glad I came early, because as I was leaving the crowds were coming in.
After we got all the students settled, it was time for a little celebration. A few of us went to a place called D'Marios. A local Italian restaurant that is well known for being one of Princess Diana's favorite places to eat.
It was delicious and the red wine was flowing!
