Life as a Roadie

I am what one would call a Road Warrior. A business traveler. A suitcase survivor.

Basically, a person who works from the road, most likely based in a home office, but spends a majority of the year away from home. When I'm not in meetings or campus visits, I spend most of my time in rental cars, airports and hotels. It is definitely not a life for everyone, but it has given me some great opportunities and some even better stories (most of which I can now laugh at.)

Since starting my job 7 years ago, I've traveled all over the US. I spent two years working predominately in California. Another year working along the rest of the West Coast. Another two in the South (hello, ya'll) and now work mostly in the Pacific Northwest/Rocky Mountains and Great Plains. For those visual learners this is what all that equates to:

(I added CT simply because that's where the company is based---so we've all spent a good amount of time there.)

When I started TMM 4 years ago, it was because I was having so much fun down in the South, encountering some of the best culture shock stories one can have (especially in your own country) and wanted to write them down. These are a few of my favorite business trips:

How Twister Saved My Life
Life of a Road Weary Road Warrior
Eating Like a Texan
Lubbock or Leave It
The One where we Conferenced
Conquering the Final Frontier
Adventuring with Dogs and Sleds

Yes, we also work a lot too...but who wants to read about the countless hours answering emails in hotel rooms, the endless flight delays and the traffic?
